Google Workspace
The Google Workspace app connects Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Drive to Sprigr Team in a single install. It replaces the older built-in Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Drive integrations, which are no longer offered for new connections.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- A Google account. Google Workspace and personal Google accounts are both supported.
- Admin or Owner role to install the app for your company. Any member can connect their own Google account once the app is installed.
- If your Google Workspace admin restricts third-party apps, they may need to approve Sprigr in the Google Admin console before the consent screen will complete.
Installing and connecting
Section titled “Installing and connecting”-
Install the app
Sign in to team.sprigr.com, open Apps in the sidebar, find Google Workspace under Available, and install it. See Installing Apps.
-
Connect your Google account
Open the app’s settings page from Apps > Installed and choose Connect, or ask your agent to connect Google for you. The agent calls
gws_connectand sends you a Google sign-in link. Each person who wants their agent to use Google does this once with their own account. -
Grant the requested scopes
Review the permissions on the Google consent screen and click Allow. The app requests Gmail send and modify, Contacts read, and the Calendar, Sheets, Docs, and Drive scopes it needs. Users who connected before the Calendar, Sheets, Docs, and Drive tools were added reconnect once to grant the added scopes; existing Gmail access is kept.
-
Check the connection
Ask your agent “Is my Google account connected?” It calls
gws_connection_statusand reports the connected mailbox, granted scopes, and connect time. To remove a connection, usegws_disconnector the app settings page.
Mail sync, backfill, and the inbox
Section titled “Mail sync, backfill, and the inbox”Once a user connects, the app can mirror that user’s Gmail into the Sprigr Inbox so agents and teammates work from the same threads:
- Near-real-time sync. New mail arrives through Gmail push notifications with a scheduled poll as a backstop (
gws_enable_mail_sync,gws_disable_mail_sync,gws_sync_status). - Historic backfill.
gws_backfill_mailboxpulls older messages into the inbox;gws_backfill_statusreports progress. - Sent folder mirroring. Mail sent from Sprigr appears in a Sent folder that lines up with your Gmail Sent mail.
- Read state and folders mirror in both directions, so marking a thread read or moving it in Sprigr is reflected in Gmail.
- File indexing.
gws_enable_file_indexingindexes the user’s Drive files into a search index that agents can query;gws_disable_file_indexingturns it off. - Events for workflows. Synced mail and indexed files emit
google.mail.received,google.mail.sent,google.file.created,google.file.updatedandgoogle.file.deleted, which a workflow can subscribe to.
Attachments on incoming mail are stored so agents can read them; the inbox search covers attachment text as well as message bodies.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- Email attachments: up to 50 MB per attachment.
- Drive file reads and downloads: up to 250 MB per file. Large text files are read in pages rather than cut off.

Section titled “Available tools”All tools run as the calling user. A user who has not connected gets a not_connected result rather than another person’s data; the agent will offer a connect link.

Common use cases
Section titled “Common use cases”- Inbox triage. An agent reads new mail in the shared inbox, files it by folder rules, drafts replies for you to review, and flags anything that needs a decision.
- Scheduling. “Am I free Tuesday afternoon?” The agent checks the calendar and books the slot you choose.
- Quotes and letters from templates. The agent copies a Docs template, fills in the values, exports a PDF, and attaches it to a draft email.
- Logging to a sheet. A workflow appends a row to a tracking sheet each time a job or enquiry comes in.
- Report distribution. A scheduled workflow emails a weekly summary to a distribution list.
Troubleshooting
Section titled “Troubleshooting”“not_connected” from a Google tool The calling user has not linked a Google account. Ask the agent to connect Google, or open the app settings page and choose Connect.
“Access denied” on the consent screen Your Google Workspace admin may need to approve Sprigr as a trusted application in the Google Admin console.
Calendar, Sheets, Docs, or Drive tools fail but Gmail works The user connected before those scopes were added. Reconnect once to grant them.
Agent cannot find a file or spreadsheet The connected account must have access to it. Shared Drive files require the account to be a member of that Shared Drive.
